Zynga’s Third-Party Publishing Program Comes Full Circle
A year ago we introduced Zynga Partners – a program designed to bring some of the most innovative third-party social games to the approximately 298 million monthly active users playing Zynga games on Zynga.com, Facebook and mobile devices. The goal was simple: give players the most social and fun gaming experience wherever they play, while helping developers of all sizes launch, promote, grow and scale their games.
Since then we’ve signed 40 partners, and helped launch 27 web and mobile games. The games have spanned every genre you can imagine – from sports and casino to invest and express and midcore. We’ve helped launch amazing mobile games like Fat Pebble’s Clay Jam and Phosphor Games’ Horn, as well as stellar web games like Mob Science’s Legends: Rise of a Hero and Eruptive Game’s Citizen Grim. We have seven third-party games in the pipeline that we’ll be launching in the coming months, and I can’t wait for you to check them out.
The Zynga Partners program has had strong momentum thus far, and I’m very excited about the success we’ve seen with Playdemic’s Village Life, a game that tasks players with rebuilding and repopulating a village – creating the ultimate, thriving utopia. It’s a totally unique, fun game full of interesting characters that transport players to whole other world.
For Zynga, third-party publishing is more than hitting a button and sharing a game with millions of players. We work side-by-side with our developer partners to make great games better.
With Village Life, Playdemic CEO Paul Gouge and his team developed a spectacular game that we were lucky to work on. From helping shape the game’s first time user experience to offering loading strategy tips, the Zynga and Playdemic teams truly partnered on Village Life. There were trips to San Francisco, late nights in Manchester, UK, and plenty of early morning calls.
All of the behind-the-scenes collaboration, crunching and coding was heartening, and we’re so proud that Village Life is the first third-party game we’ve promoted across our entire network – sharing Village Life more broadly with all of our players on Zynga.com and Facebook. This means that for the first time ever we’re giving a partner similar in-game and Zynga.com promotions that games like ChefVille, Zynga Poker and Words With Friends get – essentially unearthing the game for more players in more places.
It’s early days, but according to App Data, the independent application metrics and trends service from Insider Network, Village Life is already over 1 million DAU and climbing!
Zynga has shown that play is a daily pastime for millions of people around the world, and I’m honored to be a part of the team helping shine a light on well-deserving games like Playdemic’s Village Life.
