Happy Zynga Day, San Francisco!
We are humbled to share a very special honor today. Edwin M. Lee, Mayor of the City and County of San Francisco, has proclaimed April 18, 2014 “Zynga Day”.
This commemorates a few milestones that we’re all very proud of:
- Zynga’s Commitment to Serve: We’re proud to continue to serve the local San Francisco community. Zynga.org has raised more than $18 million for non-profits worldwide, and our local employees, 1,100 in number, have donated more than 4,000 volunteer hours locally right here in San Francisco. That time has been spent building two playgrounds in the city at the Mission YMCA and Sue Bierman Park. We have built four Imagination playgrounds for SFUSD elementary schools, worked with SFUSD on game design academies at two high schools and sponsored the 2013 GLIDE Toy Drive. Zynga is a key founding partner in Tipping Point’s SF Gives program and has donated $500,000 to go towards improving low-income SF communities and education outcomes for SF residents.
- FarmVille, Homegrown in San Francisco: FarmVille will celebrate its fifth birthday this year and we’re proud that a new generation of FarmVille on mobile was crafted right here at 8th and Townsend. FarmVille 2: Country Escape, available now on iPhone, iPad and Google Play, was shaped based on player feedback, and we couldn’t be happier of the collaboration.
To celebrate this honor and the launch of our latest game in the FarmVille franchise, we have decorated our South of Market headquarters with all of the charming and familiar faces from the farm, complete with a barn, biplane and windmill — all centerpieces of the coastal town from FarmVille 2: Country Escape.
Thank you to all our employees, our players and to the best city in the world.
